Introduction ...We
offer netball for girls in Years 3 to
6 on
Saturday mornings during the Summer Term at In our Little League you get a lot for just £25.00:
What is not to like? Bournville & Selly Oak Little League is operated by Birmingham City Netball Club, a club with CAPS accreditation from England Netball. This accreditation provides an assurance that the organisation is well run and governed, with all necessary policies and procedures in place for Safeguarding of Children. The League is organised and run by an experienced teacher who holds a Level 2 Coaching qualification from England Netball and is a former County netball player. All our adult personnel have been subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Check (DBS). Our independent Safeguarding Officer is Mrs Rhiannon Plews. Little League Netball has been established in Birmingham for well over twenty years and aims to provide the opportunity for local girls (school years 3, 4, 5 and 6) to play supervised netball at as low a cost as possible. Our beautiful kit is loaned free on a small deposit. Girls of all abilities are welcome to take part, especially those who have not played netball before, as the aim of the Little League is to take girls from zero knowledge of the game to a level of skill where they will be a credit to a school or club netball team. Though we say so ourselves, we are quite successful at this! Since 2003 Bournville & Selly Oak Little League has been a recognised Little League under the auspices of Birmingham City Council Sports Development and follows the Fair Play Charter and (so far as is possible) the rules that were laid down for the running of Little Leagues. Our Little League has a number of teams named after British birds. The Little League is set up each year in the Spring Term, and plays in the Summer Term. The cost is £25.00 per year. Kit is loaned on a modest deposit. Our events are normally held on Saturday mornings. We use the Spring Term for welcoming new players and integrating them into teams. In the Summer Term we play league matches most Saturdays. So far as possible the teams are managed, coached and umpired by coaches and senior players from Birmingham City Netball Club. Little League players are encouraged to join the Club: either as Juniors while they are still in Years 3 - 6, or as seniors when they leave the Little League as they enter Year 7. 2024 Team Photos have now been uploaded (click to enlarge). If teams are not complete in the photographs, it could be that we do not have permission to photograph certain players. Also, inevitably there are a few absences every week. There is also a staff photo of (most of) the organisers, team managers and helpers, taken on the Fun Day 2024.. |

Little League Try-outs are always fun.
These photos were take during the try-out session on 9th March. Here groups of new members of the Little League are getting some passing practice under the direction of Dianne Barber and some of the Team Managers (mostly in purple).
These are mostly Year 3s and a few Year 4s actually playing netball - many of them started only a week ago. (Good shot - well, it was nearly a goal!)
